This major aims to cultivate advanced talents of general practitioners in clinical medicine, or of teaching and researching in colleges and universities and research institutions. Graduates have high employment rates. A majority of graduates have become the backbones of relevant departments of teaching, research and management and the graduates are praised by their employers. Most of the courses offered have been awarded quality courses at national or provincial level. The faculty members have rich teaching and research experiences.

The students take amateur research, summer research, humanity lectures, excellent cultural lectures, science and technology culture week and other activities to enrich their extracurricular life and expand ranges of knowledge. In the past two years, through the improvement of the new model of “three early” medical education (early contact with clinic, early contact with scientific research, early contact with social practice), the number of students engaged in scientific research training increasingly grew. Under the guidance of teachers the students begin to write totally 766 research papers and articles, of which six articles obtain national competition awards, 17 are published on official domestic academic publications. It has realized the comprehensive cultivation of professional spirit, innovation consciousness, scientific literacy, clinical thinking, teamwork, group health care and critical thinking ability in the early stage of students’ learning.

Grades of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology should reach level C (or above 70 points out of 100), other subjects should reach pass (level D or 60 points out of 100). HSK4 certificate (180 points or above)

Note: Before the application deadline (May 5), the applicant must send the application materials (in duplicate) to the Office of International Students' Affairs, Sun Yat-sen University.
